Sensible Online Predator
The worst-taste Mafia game to date!
The IRC channel #hannah_montana_fanz has traditionally been a happy, carefree place for all of its barely pubescent inhabitants. A place to relax, discuss the KeWlEsT NoO TuNez and OMG *SQUEE* about Justin Timberlake and his ilk. Plus like, there's this boi, you knowz? And I think I like him but he won't look at me but his hair is just ThE bEsT!!! And like OMG my mom is just the lamest EVER, she took my phone away just because I made 70 hour-long calls last month!
But this idyllic picture has been brutally defaced.
Posing as teenagers, a ring of nasty men have decided to move in on the channel, seeing it as a prime source of targets for their unspecified but evil intentions.
Can the channel regulars band together to fight off this well-disguised menace? Or will the nasty men pull off a successful takeover?
Roles and Rules
The Chan
Chan-Bot - The automated channel overseer for the IRC server, this impartial program carries out any legitimate commands given to it. It has a voting script built into it that can permanently ban channel members once per day.
The Regulars - An assorted bunch of teens, their only overall characteristic is that they are incredibly annoying to any sane and mature person. Once per day, the channel members get to cast a vote to permanently ban one channel member in an effort to clean their ranks. They win when all the Ring members are banned.
The Ops - This bunch of girls all go to the same school. It was their idea to start the channel bcoz it would be sooooo kewl to hang together, like, while you're not even hanging. The Ops have a very influential role in this game as they have a lot of abilities, as follows:
Devoice - Once per day, the Ops can remove one channel member's ability to vote for that day. This ability can be used before that person has cast a vote in order to stop them from voting altogether, or can be used after they have cast a vote, to prevent them from changing. Note that to use this ability, one of the Ops must 'op' themselves, revealing their identity to the channel.
Kick-Ban - Once during the game, as a night action, the Ops can eliminate one channel member of their choosing.
Promote - This cannot be performed the same night as a Protect action. Once per night, the Ops can add one new member to their ranks. Obviously they will want to think very carefully about whether they really wish to do this, and choose carefully.
Protect - This cannot be performed the same night as a Promote action. Once per night, the Ops can have one or more of their number engage a channel member in such deep and meaningful conversation that that member is immune to any attempts to start any unpleasantness.
The Agent - An undercover FBI agent, they know that there is some dirt to be uncovered, and the pure flame of justice burns in their heart. The Agent can dig up background information on any one channel member each evening. They may also, once during the game, call in an FBI raid to take down a suspected nasty man for the rest of the game.
The Ring
Ring Members - Nasty, nasty men. The Ring gets to select one channel member each night who they will traumatise to the point where the poor angel can no longer stand to log on. They win when their numbers equal or exceed the regular channel members.
The Ringleader - A remarkably unpleasant person, he's been at this game for so long that he knows all the tricks to cover his tracks. Hence, any investigation will show him to be his own innocent 13 year old daughter.
The Corruptors - Silver tongued devils. During the game they can each turn one channel member to the dark side with their smooth talk about what can be justified in the name of true love.
Mr. Sweaty-Palms - This fumblingly maladjusted individual is a real liability for the nasty men. If the votes lean his way by the end of a day, he will immediately crack and admit his wrong-doing, and 'accidentally' name another nasty man to go down with him.
Others
The Script Kiddie - Aspiring to be 1337 and reaching 0, this immature sack of pimples and hormones has a few bits of software which can cause some problems - and he's not shy about clicking their buttons. Abilities will show up in-game. The Script Kiddie initially wins by surviving the game, but if the nasty men try to corrupt him or traumatise him, he will join them 'for lulz'.
Please note that there are certainly some secret rules in play which will be revealed to players as appropriate.
and now let's see if SE thinks this is just too offensive to actually play...
