I wonder how long it's going to be until more efficient bionic hearts will become a medical viability? |

If you mean mechanical hearts, never. If you mean biologically engineered and artifically grown, we're already doing the basic research, but at least 20 years away. |

There are LVA (left ventricle assist) devices which assist your heart in pumping blood however. Generally installed if your heart has been damaged after a heart attack. You end up having no pulse as a result of having one. They're about the size of a man's fist these days, but in the 80s, an equivalent device had to be worn outside the body. |

Why never? |

Because viable mechanical hearts are still a ways away while building new biological organs, which would be better in the grand scheme of things, is fairly close on the horizon. |

6'5" 300lb is not really large huge, in the scheme of people. Until you pass 7ft and, i dunno.. 400lb? you're not really pushing the capabilities of any organs. There's a metric shitton of athletes (football, lifters, etc) who are 6ft+ and 300lbs+ I'm a non-fatass computer nerd and I'm 6'7", 280lb (huge legs from biking). Once you're 6ft+, inching to 300lb isn't nearly as impressive as it is for a 5ft6 man. My blood pressure is 118/76 (smack in the middle of the "optimal" range). |

Shit, what a downer. My buddy and I were just discussing how much we enjoy this guy, maybe four days ago. Also, we were trying to remember if his name was Clarke-Duncan, or vice versa. I guess both those topics will go no further. |

Yeah, the fact he also played a gorilla and a magical Negro at various points just shows Hollywood doesn't know what to do with talent. Still, I cried at the end of Green Mile. |

I just can't watch The Green Mile because it always makes me cry. It's just so fucking sad and depressing even though Michael Clark Duncan was so good in it. |

Well geez, so not only did they end The Finder with the most downer finale I've seen, but they went and killed the actor of the only character to escape unscathed? |

For context, I think the Finder was going for a "scattered to the winds" season finale that wasn't changed when they didn't make another season. The main character got arrested for tracking down his mom who was in Witness Protection, in addition to do this he skipped finding something else he had fixated on which with how his brain works was likely to drive him insane(er). His girlfriend lost her badge for not stopping him. The gypsy girl who was with them on parole ran away to avoid an arranged marriage to her brother (emotionally and mutually). In contrast, NCIS just blew up most of the cast, gave Duckie a heart attack alone on a beach, and is STILL coming back this fall. |

For more context, one of those shows appeared on FOX, and the other didn't. Guess which one didn't survive past it's debut? To horribly mangle a quote: "If you watch Fox, it's your own damn fault." |

The Finder was a good premise, ruined by the higher ups that kept making changes to the show's direction. |

The issue isn't that Fox makes drek, the issue is that any good show on Fox has only a one in twenty chance of actually making it out of the stall. Investing time or attention span to anything from FOX is pretty much playing the lotto. It may have a slightly higher than normal chance of being 'good' TV than if it was on another channel, but it has a far far lower chance of reaching a death of natural causes than any other channel's shows. |
