Yes. I mean the Poles. There's a very nice little 'feel good' presentation here mentioning how so many Poles risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. No mention of course how the vast majority of Poles eagerly cooperated with their Nazi occupiers in dispensing the Final Solution. Murderous pogroms continued even after Poland was 'liberated' and the war had effectively ended.

Oh I cut no slack for the crimes of my own country. See my recent post here.
But this post is about Poland's "Commonwealth of Diverse Cultures". I watched the nice presentation that totally ignores the Poles' own role in the deliberate elimination of their diverse culture and simply pointed out the omission. So basically this happy celebration of cultural diversity is revisionist propaganda.
Sorry to spoil the nice presentation with an unpleasant history lesson. Go ahead and enjoy the pretty pictures.

Thanks, I've made my point here. Not to sound too 'self-righteous' but rest assured if I came across a nice presentation by the US Dept. of the Interior celebrating the culture of Native Americans with no mention of the US gov't's active role in their devastation I would be equally harsh.

This isn't happy-go-lucky propaganda shit.

Rivers have been cried over the bad things ethnic groups and nationalities did to themselfs.
This presentation want's to put a little balance to the hole thing by introducing the positive sides of centuries of coexistence.
The jews and other ethnic & religious groups, ware migrating for centuries to Poland seeking refuge from repression in blood thirsty religion crazed western europe.

There isnt a single lie in this presentation.

I'm not going to argue with Madpride, because, well, its Madpride.
I just wanted to clear that out.

I just want to clarify - assuming you are Polish - I am not attacking you or the Polish people. The Poles I have personally met have all seemed like good upstanding and open-minded people.
My problem is a 'glossing over' of history that is apparent in this presentation. My Grandmother's family were Polish Jews. The few who were able to leave did - because of rampant Anti-semitism. Those who didn't or couldn't leave of course met their fate in the Holocaust. Interestingly my grandmother blamed only the Germans for the demise of her family - but she always noted how hostile the Poles were to the Jews. My own research of this unfortunate history revealed the depth of the Polish role in the Holocaust. Apparently many Poles saw their suffering under Nazi occupation as partly the fault of the Jews. Some may have thought that cooperating might lessen their own burden. But these are not excuses for what happened.
This presentation of 'diverse cultures' is obviously meant as public relations, so it's understandable it accentuates the positive. But you should consider that some of those who put it together might be the very same politicians you mention.

And oh yeah, I'm not Madpride.

There are many sane Poles that aren't fundamentalists.

It's just that most of them don't live in Poland anymore.

First of all I am not Madpride.

Second - the bad things ethnic groups and nationalities did to themselfs. Did to themselves?! WTF?

Third - my problem with this presentation is the glaring omission of the Polish role in the ultimate fate of their Jews. Yes, Poland originally offered refuge from persecution in the West. And then the populace at large became just as hostile. Pogroms and persecution were commonplace and when the Nazis invaded the Poles were only to happy to point out the Jews amongst them and participate -often brutally - in dispatching them. Yes, many Poles bravely resisted, sheltered and saved their Jewish neighbors. But they were a tiny minority. This is all well-documented.
The Germans have gone out of their way to atone and acknowledge their obvious sins yet the peoples of Eastern Europe, especially Poland, have yet to fully acknowledge their active part in the Holocaust. In fact traditional anti-Semitism remains rife there, despite the fact that there are practically no Jews left. And yet, officially, the Poles have mostly made the Holocaust into something that was done solely to them. The recent move to rename the Auschwitz site is an excellent example of this active denial.

I don't think so.
Sane = antithesis of 'mad'.
If you read my posts and comments, including here, I believe you'll find them to be generally sane. i.e. thought-out, grammatically coherent, non-ranting, and referencing 'sane' sources. Except for this one thread, which seems to have hit a raw nerve with some people, you will find very if any downmods.
Even gotten some very nice PMs from established members.
So, if it's OK with you I'll stick with this nik. Actually even if it's not OK.
