The server likes to close the connection. If you're using a downloader that doesn't bother to check if it's been sent all the data it asked for*, it's likely it only got a little bit of the file. Try using a downloader that does check, like wget.

*Mozilla Necko, the transport engine in Mozilla Suite and Firefox, does this.
